Good day All,

We run exchange 2007 platform in my company.

We are currently using as domain (ie users logs in to access their systems and email using firstname@ourolddomain.com).

Management just acquired and demanded that we should change to firstname@ournewdomain.com.

How do we go about this seamlessly without causing downtime.

I will appreciate every contribution to this.

Thank you for the anticipated response.

Unfortunately, you cannot change the domain name with an Exchange 2007 server. Your only option is to purchase new hardware and build up a new Exchange server in the new domain, then migrate your users over to the new domain and new Exchange server.

I'm doing that exact thing right now as a matter of fact.

There are no more PDC's! There are DC's with FSMO roles!

You can change the outbound domain name in the SMTP connector and leave the internal as is.

But management wants them to login to the new domain name, which can only be done if their accounts are in the new domain.

Thank you for the contribution.

The management is not bothered about changing the internal domain from to
Management only wants the smtp address to change from firstname@ourolddomain.com to firstname@ournewdomain.com.

Is there any way to go about this without having to rebuild new domain controllers and exchange 2007 servers.

Thank you.

Yes. That's a different question than you asked and you can reference Zel's post for your answer.

Did you do any research on your own? Google? Anything?

Detailed instructions depends on your organisation / setup.

What have you tried? I can't spoon feed you.
