How to change display setting

I have a sony vaio notebook, less then 1 yr old, when running on ac plug display is bright, however when you unplug and run on batteries, the display dimms, is there a way to change it so it runs the same as plugged into ac?

You will probably have to set the power profile to Always On but keep in mind your battery life will diminish significantly. The screen dims to conservce power. It happens on every laptop.

You should be able to modify this behaviour in the Bios setup. Using a laptop screen outside is difficult enough without it being dimmed!
