how to change date/time format?

Hello,
I think that the events webpart is getting the date/time format based on what you have set in regional settings for the site.
You can easily change that by going to Site Settings, Go to Site Administration. Under Management and Statistics chose, Change regional settings.

Hello,
Are you using SharePoint Portal Server or Windows SharePoint Services?
If it is in Windows SharePoint Services, under site settings, click go to site administration. Under the section Namned Management and Statistics" you should have a link namned saying Change regional settings.
