how to change bgcolor in every N number of records

Right click the detail band, select format section, select the color tab, select X-2, then use this formula:
if remainder(recordnumber,5) = 0 then
crred
else
crwhite

Hmmm, I don't think so, sorry.
I avoid Crystal cross tabs because of the limited control.
You can create your own cross tab like functionality, or at least give the illusion of one, but that may be more work than it's worth for just this feature.
