How to change a graphic with different scales?

I have a graphic with the vertical scale different from the horizontal scale. I would like to change one of the scales in order to make them equal. Is something like a stretch but with proportional changes in every element of the graphic. (In the Microsoft Word would be easy to do, just selecting an edge and stretching as I want).

What’s the easiest way? Is there any command for it?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

There is a Stretch command in AutoCAD and I find it extremely useful for things like wht you want it for..

Unfortunatley, it doesn't have a scale or proportion factor influence to it - it uses only coordinates and/or distances but as long as you know how much/far you want to stretch the object, it would work for you.

Simply, find it in the Modify menu. What you have to do is draw the window selection from right to left over the objects and/or parts of the objects that you want to stretch - making sure that you select everything or part correctly as everything outside the box will be anchored where it is. As a note, if you select objects that you don't want to stretch then simply, hold down Shift and pick the unwanted objects to deselect them.
Right-click or enter to OK it, then enter the coordinates or distance you want and press enter or left-click to finish the command.

I hope this helps..

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately I already know the command stretch and isn’t reasonable to use it because the graphic has many objects. Therefore the strech command would take days to apply to this case.
Anyway thanks, I was just hopping AutoCAD would have an option/command for this.

So does anyone knows how to change the scale only in one direction?

Hi,

The only think I can immediately think of is to create the objects as a block and then insert the block into the drawing, changing just the x (or y) scale (depending on which direction you want to scale it by). Leave the other scale as 1 - so it only scales in the given direction. Then explode the block.
(Note: You may want to purge the block reference after that just to strip a bit of file size)..

As I said, it's just a quick thought but it may work for you..
