Hi there,

I have a report written in Crystal 9 which is interrogating a Microsoft Access database. This Access database is linked to a SQL database via an ODBC connection.

The report is being run through a 3rd party application. When the report runs it always prompts for the login to the database that the Access database uses.

Is there any way to build this information into the report, so that it does NOT prompt for the login every time?

Any advice would be appreciated - many thanks!

Sarah

No, Crystal does not store passwords, it's a question of security.

Which database is prompting?

If it's the SQL Server database, and the Access database doesn't have a password, unlink the SQL Server table and redo it, only this time check the Save Password box.

Otherwise you might embed a report into an Access app and use code to set user/pw.

I think it would require the Crystal Reports 9 Developer edition.

Thanks synapsevampire,

Yes it is the SQL server database that's prompting, so I'll try what you've suggested.

Thanks for your help, Sarah.

What if the datasource is ACCESS and there is no password?

Please start a new thread, this was resolved months ago.

Tek-tips is intended to allow people to find successful solutions to specific questions, not force readers to go through posts in hopes of finding solutions.

And post the software being used, and any error messages/background info.

If you have tables linked to the Access database, then make sure that you selected the Save Password at Link time.
