how to build a inventory update form

I am trying to build an inventory update form I tried using a query but it was locking me out how do i accomplish this.
I want to be able to pull the rerecord by model number and then enter a number that will be subtracted from another field and calculated in a new field i have this accomplished in a query but when i go run it it locks me out from inputting my numbers in my form im lost

Without knowing anything about your database and tables, I would suggest you look at Allen Browne's Inventory suggestions.

If it's 'locking you out', I'd advise that you see the db administrator to give you access to it.

Likely you fashioned a non-updateable query. Without seeing it, it is hard to tell. But many advanced queries are not updateable.

Also take a look at the Northwind 2010. This is an inventory database provided by MS.
