I'm not sure if I should be posting this question here, but here goes......I'll try to simplify it also.

We have an Access 2000 database on an in-house Windows 2003 Server network. We'd like to:

1. be able to share this database with our NY office (across a VPN has been too slow)

2. allow data entry from internet users (ie enter application information), so staff does not have to type in all the information.

I do not know where to begin to accomplish our goals. Can anyone suggest a starting point??

Thanks!

Have you thought about using Terminal Services for the external folks to log into and access the db? LAN users would be no change, External users would effectively become "LAN" users by virtue of using a TS.

I've set up data entry and data access across the internet to an Access database for my state's transportation department using Data Access Pages (DAP's).
See:

Also, a quick and cheap way would be to set up a Citrix server ( and let your users login remotely to a single database. Avoids any new coding you'll have to do.
