Not sure of the best way to blur the eyes of a person in moving video. How to track the eyes as they go and how to blur only that portion of the video. A layer, mask, some other item? What is the smoothest way to do this?

A layer mask is certainly one easy way to do it, but an Adjustment Layer may be better suited.

Eyes are tough because they are usually very small in frame, so the containment mask requires special attention.

There is a tracker in AE that will help you, but you may want to manually position your eyes.

1. Add an Adjustment layer above the EYES VIDEO.

2. Add Blur Effect to Adjustment Layer.

3. Create a mask shape to isolate the eyes.

4. Track Adjustment layer (or keyframe mask shape) to follow eyes.
