Hi

I've been asked to look into architecting a backup and recovery service for Scalable File Share (renamed Lustre File System) the Data Protector link on HP web site says it supports it, but non of the manuals explain how to do it.

I've tried to read up on lustre...

I believe the overlay Lustre file system can be backed up with tar, cpio etc and that you can also stop the cluster and mount the underlying EXT3 file system and back it up, perhaps Data Protector uses the Linux client on the EXT3 file system. However there is some mention of extended file system attributes that need to be dumped to a file and then backed up - does the Data Protector client do this automatically.

Thanks in advance.
