How to backup data on old blackberry, restore it to new one& activate

I would like to know how to:

backing up all data from the current BB device, restoring data to new blackberry, activating new blackberry on the bes.

I remember that I dont need to activate it from the BES server after I restore the data back to the new one, but I'm not sure.

you need to use the desktop manager and do the backup; activate the new bb on the bes and then import the backup;
