We recently purchased a Dell Powervault 725N and expected that we would be able to back it up using Backup Exec 8.6. However, Dell didn't tell us that they would be installing Advanced Server on the NAS, and BE won't let us back up anything on it. Apparently we need to purchase even more licenses and options than we have already (I've never seen a product with such a convoluted array of pieces required to get a job done). What are our options here? Thanks.

They are correct. You need the BENT Advanced Server Edition. And if you are putting it on a cluster, you need a license for each node.

As SQLBill writes you need the BENT Advanced Server Edt.

Trust me, all backup software have a bunch of licenses, features and options. BENT has only a few compared to Netbackup, TSM og BrightStore.
