OH, well when I tried to to a restore to the new BCM, it failed. I was not sure if it would work after hardware replacement, or just from a data loss? My hope is to keep a spare BCM50 on hand in case of an equipment failure. I would then just restore based on location?
What I did was manually add the .lic file to the new system after KRS swapped out the keycode to the new hardware. I then did the restore and browsed to the file and after 5 mintues the job failed with a error like "not a supported file" or so. I don't recall excactly. But I did have to programm from scratch a 30 user phone system with DID's, and Fax messaging with express messaging lines etc. It took me hours and hours so I am trying to gear up for the future.
You have to migrate the keycodes over from the old system to the new system if you have not done that yet.
My experience with Nortel on this told me you have to register both systems with Nortel before you do any migrating. You can program it just fine, just none of the features will work till you install the keycodes.
Mine was a bit different as the system I replaced crashed completely and the customer had NEVER performed a backup.
