I want to back up my development database and bring it home. I have one of those small usb thumb drives. I tried using the back up wizard, but it complained about backing up to a "raw" drive....Does anyone know how to do this.

Thanks

Since you are going to install the database in another machine, diferent server, different name, all that information stays on the backup, i recommend you to export al database views and tables to and external file such as excel or plain tex.

And the use the import wizard to create the new database and tables at home.

It would be easier to restore.
but thats up to you.

hope this helps

Since it is development and not production have you tried detaching the database and simply copying the files?

Questions about posting. See faq183-874

Why not just backup to hard drive then move the file over to the thumb drive?
