On December 7th, Symantec Live Update presented me with a common client update that I would like to remove. It has caused sporadic problems with my Eudora. How can I remove that update without having to do an entire re-install?

Thanks
Lynn

lynnonline: depending on what o/s you have, eg. xp or me, then you can do a system restore to a date before you installed the update (which has now been removed from the update site) If you have any other o/s that does not have a system restore function, then you will probably have to uninstall nav and then reinstall it to get rid of the update.

Thank you so much!! I have wasted sooo much time today trying to undo that awful Symantec live update to the shared clients.

I went to the link you suggested, downloaded a new copy of ccempxy.dll per the suggestion in the article. This fixed my problem, whose symptoms were sporadic Eudora timeouts trying to download email, scan it for junk as Norton scanned for viruses. Now all seems to be working again.

Why didn't Symantec put a BIG POST on their site or send out a live update alert like "We goofed. Come to our site and download" Or, better yet, why not send the old dll via live update????? I don't understand who's running the store there.

Anayway, to mmk6052, as they say here in Hawaii, "Mahalo nui loa" .. many thanks
Lynn

Just to clarify for others with the same problem: when following the above link, you must click the first bullet to end up at the spot where you can download the earlier shared email proxy file. Also, Symantec only talks about a problem "sending mail" and a specific error message. My problem was GETTING mail .. and, getting rid of the problematic Symantec shared client dll fixed it!
