OK here's the deal - I goofed up! :-(
I have Solaris 2.7 on an Ultra 250
The following patches were installed incorrectly:
106980-15
107081-25
107636-05
108376-18
The patches were unzipped and pkgadd was run.
SO, it appears that certain files were overwritten - most notably the core shared libraries.
Now when the system boots or shuts down, there is an error similar to the following:
/usr/lib/libthread.so.1: symbol _libc_tsd_common: referenced symbol not found
I'm not sure where these bootup and shutdown messages are stored (I checked under /var/adm and /var/log)
Now, I think I can fix this but would like some assistance:
-Is it possible to just simply find which packages were installed, remove them, and re-install the "original" packages from the installation CD?
e.g. I found that SUNWcsl, SUNWcslx, SUNWxi, SUNWximx, SUNWhea, SUNWxwinc, SUNWxwman, SUNWxwpmn and SUNWxwslb are located on the original installation CD's
If I remove all the packages from the patches and then re-install the above packages will this fix the problem?
If so, then I have another issue: To install these packages, I need to mount the CDROM. Currently, "vold" fails with the same symbol error as above. SO how do I install the CDROM?
How can I determine which SCSI id is the CDROM?
Any help appreciated.
Regards,
Mike
