I have a task which is fixed duration.
Originally the task is executed by a fulltime employee (20%).
When i replace this resource by a halftime employee i would like MS Project automatic to recalculate the units(40%) because this task should be finished at the same date as with the fulltime resource.

At this moment when i replace the resource, MS Project will complain and changes the duration of my (fixed duration)task. When i replace the resource from fulltime to partime, the task will take longer, when i change from parttime to fulltime the task will finish sooner but the finishdate will stay the same and MS Project will draw a dotted line from the actual finish to the former finish date.

Any suggestions?

Pieter

When you replace a resource, project tries to ensure that work and units remain the same, so I don't know if you can get it to calculate the way you want (where replacing a resource will change units).

You can however add the second resource, let Project recalulate, and then remove the first resource.
