Everyday, I get a text file which I have to detach to my drive, and then upload it to another machine. I would like to automate the detachment of the file. How do I do that ? I have no prior knowledge of Lotus Script , hence, have no clue where to start.

Without using LotusScript I see no way of automating your problem.
LS is the only tool you could use to do it. I would add an agent that does the job.
Actually, it would be feasible to create an agent that runs on the selected document(s) and detaches all files to a pre-defined directory.
But you require LS for it. Do you have a developer handy ? It should not take long.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, we use a mail-in database which doesn't seem to allow use of LotusScript, but does allow Agents that uses functions or formulas. Without LotusScript then doesn't seem I could possibly set up automated detachment of a report which arrives everyday, isn't it ?

It is not the database that allows or not the use of LScript - it is your Notes client.
Your reply tells me that you have the basic Notes client installed, and not the Designer version.
If that is indeed the case, LScript is not available to you as you need the Designer to use it.
It could also be that your Notes ID has not been authorized to Designer level, which is an issue your administrator could deal with rather quickly.

Otherwise, outside of LScript, I do believe that you will find no way to automate your file detachment.
