Hello

This is my firtst job and am trying hard to keep it.
Could someone please help me know how to automate MS Outlook . As I am trying to record on Outlook nothing is happening. Do i have to change any settings in QTP. I even tried with Gmail. once it opens the outlook or gmail , then it stops recongnising anything i do in the mail
Please let me know if anyone out theres knows a solution.
Thank you very much in advance for your time.

Just gave it a blast (using QTP 9.2 and Outlook 2003), and it recorded fine.

First thing to check is that you're using the right add-ins for the job. When QTP starts, you'll get the option to check the functional add-ins you want loaded, make sure you have active X and VB checked.. These not being checked may cause problems.

More information on the problem would be good too. What versions are you working with? What does QTP record before it stops seeing anything? What have you tried?

Cheers,
Dave

I work with QTP 8.2 and MSoutlook2003.
I have checked all the addins (Active x , java, vB ,terminal emulator, web).
I open QTP and open my application, do some recording on it, close my app and then open outlook.
QTP records all the steps on my app and then records the step to open outlook, and then it just goes blank
No matter what I do in outlook(like check my email, write a newmail, delete )it doesnot generate any script .
I have tried using lowlevel recording. But in vain
Thank you for spending your valuable time to resolve my issue.

Suggest you try turning off terminal emulator unless you specifically need it for your app. It can conflict with some of the other addins.

Can't think why it's not working. Perhaps you could try recording just the outlook stuff in a separate script to your main app script, to see if something's being set somewhere in your existing script that's causing the problem.

If so, then record the two scripts separately, and then a third one to execute the first app script, then the second outlook script.

Cheers,
Dave

It does not work, I tried everything. Someone has adviced me to write script in VB using outlook.application
I think that's the final solution.
