Hi All
I am new to IP office and have working system (sort of) my cust wants me to programme the system correctly as the previous company went bust.
I have managed to log in and work out the system layout but can' figure out where/how the line assignment works. I have keys with a, b ,c d but to find this is proving difficult.
Can anyone guide me in the right direction please.

Cheers

The buttons "a=, b= and c=" are call appearances for the user and are NOT line keys.
Explaining here how it works is nearly impossible as IP Office can only emulate a key-system and you need quite some programming and system knowledge to get it done properly.

Go to the incoming call route and put the DDI in and give it a destination.

When you pay peanuts, you get monkeys!

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

Sarcasm, it's only one of the services I offer.

I am Nortel Norstar/ meridian/ CS1K eng but since the merger have started working on the small avaya ip systems.
Could just give me a brief idea please of where they are configured in the routing or the extn.

Hi intrigrant

I have analogue lines on the system

I'd recommend reading the Key and Lamp manual - which is available on the knowledge base.

This manual will give you all the required steps to allocate lines to line appearance keys.

All of that being said, IP Office is not really designed to be a Key and Lamp system. Using IPO as a key and lamp is a compromise and severely limits the system; most people don't use it in that mode - its a bit like buying a racehorse and using it to pull a beer dray. This may partially explain why people are not being as helpful as usual.

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

If as you say the customer "wants you to program the system correctly" forget the Nortel way of working

in a Nortel you tell a handset to monitor a line (or ddi) and alert when it is being rung.

That is totally backwards as far as the IPO goes
on the IPO you tel line (or DDI) to ring the phone!

forget appearance keys - give each user just 2 & enable reserve last CA

set-up Incoming call routes (ICR) for each inbound number
for Analog lines you use the Incoming line group ID on the trunks to differentiate different lines (all lines in the same Aux group should have the same )

to ring more than one phone set up a group & use that as the destination for the ICR.

it may be worth giving the useres a hunt group enable button to opt in & out as necessary, likewise DND & divert keys are useful (use feature Send all Calls).

If possible play with a demo system before learning on a live site.

And the best advise possible:-
check out each from in the IPO manager & when you see a field you are unsure about press F1 !

I would bet a large sum that all the MVP's here use the help files regularly (I Know I do).
