I'm trying to load some software on a laptop that does not have a floppy drive... only a DVD/CDRW drive. The OS is XP Pro. Can I use the "set" command to assign the drive A: as D:? (As you could in the good ol' DOS days) I'd really rather not have to buy an external FD. Any Ideas?
Thanks, Rich

Is the software on floppy disks or on a CD? I assume it's on a CD and therefore would not need the floppy and not have to have the drive letter changed. But then what may be left out of the post is that the software has been copied from floppies to a CD but will only install from a floppy.

Some more details??

Sorry, The software (The General Store) was loaded from the CD but it needs to read a serialisation disk from a floppy in drive A: Problem being that the Laptop only had a DVD/CDRW and no FD. I did solve the problem by attaching the laptop to a network and mapping a floppy on the network as drive A: Thanks for your time.
Richie
