How to Alert on New Node or Down Node xx days?

Try to use the EVENT CONFIGURATION under Options in NNM. Everytime NMM receives the traps you configured under Event Configuration it will forward email to you. Just be sure you filled-up the "Command for Automatic Action (Opotional)" field.
I normally put this under the Command field:
echo "Message in your email" | mailx <email add>
