Hi,
I want to add TCP/IP services in /etc/inet/services ( poularly known as services )file.
I want to add TCP/Ip service at port 50010 with service name "testser1".
How can I do this ? In my system this file is read only.I can cannot have write access to this file using root also.
My question is there any command in solaris that can add/remove services/port number in this file ?

My system solaris 8 on sparc.

Thanks..

Raj

Yes, the Services file only can access by root.
You just edit the services file.
Do your application need to open this port number ?
Because you will have security issue, if you just opened the port.
Good Luck

use the root users

and when you save
use
:w!

this will override the not write access

Hi,
It works.Application is accessing through this port.

Thanks
Raj
