i have an existing database in sql server 2000, and a backup file in .dbk format from another db that i need to add to my database. i tried to import the data but it didn't work; i got device errors instantly. anyone know how i can get started?

thanks!

.dbk format ????
What's that?

Try a restore from it.

DTS can be used in a similar way.

dbk format threw me too; it seems to be some other sql server 2k database backup format.

i got the restore to work; just took a bit of hair-pulling :)

thanks!

It's just that some one has named a backup file .dbk. It's usually .bak or (in my case because I often forget) no extension.
