There seems to be about 3 db loss in the SX when traffic is tie line to tie line, or tandem to tandem. Is there a way to increase the Gain in the switch?
I hv a G3r V6. 1 cabinet, 5 shelfs.

Thank you.

Larry

I'm not positive ... but I think there is a field in the trunk form where you can adjust the db loss. You might try that. Hope this helps.

Teletek,

Thank you, I found that one and I hv it set high on the inbound T-1 and the Out bound T-1.
The children are sill unhappy!
I saw a thread before about Gain plan or country gain plan. but i can't seem to locate it.

Thank you again for your advise.

Satman,

I posed a similar question a couple of months ago and the only suggestion I got was to replace my headsets. I think what you and I both need is help in understanding and tweaking the Digital Loss Plan. Hopefully someone who is willing to share their knowledge of this seldom visited topic will take the time to answer. I'll be watching this thread and I've got my stars ready to hand out!

mmcalli,

I saw your question in the thread before an the info on the reference to Digital loss plan. Could be my version does not support it. I increased the T-1 (ds1) gain comp to a 5, however this gain is for the T-1 bit stream, in other words, the distance from the SX to the T-1 interface to the Telco. So, that did not do it! On the TIE line 2 way Tru, i hv the gain set to HIGH. ( based on TIMS set measurements, this is a waste of programmin space in the code!! it yields only a 1 DB increase in levels and is bidirectional in nature.) I hv a work around! But it is not the cleanest!!!
I installed CAC mux on the T-1's, inbound, drop to analog channel, patch back to another CAC back up to T-1. Now i can control the Gain in both directions! I hv the same setup on Adtrans, and I can telnet to the Adtrans and adjust the Gain as needed. a real mess, but it works!!
Best,
satman

mmcalli,

I found the info on Digital Loss Plan, it is in the Little Instruction Handbook 555-025-107 under Ds1/CEPT/ISDN/PRI Reference. This shows the loss's across different types of digital and Analog interconnects. I hv not read all yet, but the projected and EXPECTed 9 db loss between Tie lines appears correct. (and trust me, it is at least that much!!)on a quick read I find no way to crank it up, however, I figure 2 heads are better than one, so I am passing this along to u too. I am in Asia, it is late here. Will attack the book in the morning and look to see what u hv discovered!
Good luck!

Larry

Larry,
I have been busy with a couple of projects-bringing up a V9.5 switch upgrade, new local and LD provider lines and call center revamping, so I havn't had much time. I'll look into this more when I'm done--who knows, perhaps the new lines won't require me to do anything.
