how to add fields together on my report..

I have a report.. which has some text of numbers.. I want to add all the numbers up and display it on my report..

I tired in my report.. adding a unbound text box to the footer of my report

" =Sum([MIL]) "

I get error in return... I'm sorta new .. thanks for baring

Ok this is what I have changed.. I add the code inside my detail section of my report.. and it worked.. but when i go to the footer section of the report and add the same code.. i get an error.. ..

does anyone know of a fix ?
