Hi!
Hopefully this is right forum to ask.
I am having an excelsheet on which I want to get control over input in cells.
Valid inputs are on another sheet as range called 'Firstnames' e.g. 'John','Peter','William'
At the cell I want one of those Firstnames, I want to have a combobox enableing the user to select just only from the range 'Firstnames'.
This must be quite easy but I never did such a thing.
I am having experience with Visual Foxpro in which such a solution is also very simple to create. But, as mostly, just a "How To".
Maybe there might be an example somewhere.

TIA

Hi Bart,

Use Data Validation.

In the cell(s) you want the Combobox, go to Data, Validation, Settings.

Validation criteria "Allow:" = "List",
Validation criteria "Source" = "=Firstnames", or click in the Sourc box, then do Insert, Name, Paste, and select Firstnames, OK

Check "In-cell dropdown"

Then set any messages and warnings you want on the appropriate tabs
