hello...
Iam finding some difficulties in Cross-tab.

1. when I use cross-tab feature for implementing the below summary report,

profession [B'lore M'bai Chennai]

Doctors 5 10 2
Engineers 6 1 25
Lawyers 12 3 5

I get the report in the following way,

B'lore M'bai Chennai

Doctors 5 10 2
Engineers 6 1 25
Lawyers 12 3 5

I want the column heading profession,(which is dbs field header) also in the report. How can i do it ?

Thanks ,

There are two possible methods. Insert a text box and type in the label, and add borders on the top and left side and size it so that it matches the cell borders in the crosstab.

You could also create a formula (compliments of Ken Hamady):

whilereadingrecords;
"Profession"

And enter this as the highest level row in the crosstab, although this will result in the profession label appearing to the left of the row groups.

Note that LB's 1st solution will only work on the first page, and Ken's solution doesn't formaty correctl, as LB pointed out.

Another alternative would be to build a maual cross-tab, there are numerous posts her on this, as well as a FAQ, and Crystal has a whitepaper on it.

Actually the text box solution will work on subsequent "real" pages--but it will not carry over to virtual pages (pages formed to the right when columns do not fit on one page)--the issue comes up if on virtual pages you have "repeat row labels" checked.
