how to add an Header (but not a footer)

I'm having a problem adding a Header to a few PDF files (one pdf file has three pages, and another has four pages). I tried adding the header/footer the convetional way from Acrobat. But this way I get both the header and footer and I do not need the footer. Also, when I do it thsi way I get the header on ALL pages, and I only need the header on some pages (EX: pages 2 and 3 in one PDF file and pages 2,3,4 on the other PDF file)
Anyone know how I can add that? I also tried adding the header via MS Word and then printing it as PDFWriter, didn't look good.
