I need to find out how to change a key item on the phone to be a message number. I have some available adl lines that I plan on using, what are the commands.

LD 11
REQ=CHG
TYPE=PHONE TYPE
TN=TN OF PHONE
ECHG=YES
KEY=NUMBER OF KEY YOU WANT TO CHANGE FOLLOWED BY WHAT YOU WANT IT TO BE

PIECE OF CAKE

I tried that, and it didn't make the change. When you say change the key followed by what I want it to be can you show me item for item.

I think I'm getting stuck at the key info.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO PUT ON THE KEY

I'm using item key 11 mwk (which is the message waiting key) followed by the voicemail number that we have. Then it prompts me again for the item number. Am I missing something.

what type of phone is it? on certain phones specific keys are reserved for message waiting. You're doing it correctly so maybe it's just prompting you for the next change you may want to make. are you sure the key's not there after you add it?

Its a 2216 (Meridian) I tried running a prt to see what if the message key is there for that item, and its not. I must be missing something?

I believe that once you respond to an "key" with a valid response and press enter, it will continue to prompt "key" as long as there is data entered. Once you hit enter without any data after the "key" prompt, you should be able to exit with the changes intact. Was it "Key" or "Item" that continued to prompt?

key 11 MWK 1234 (voicemail number)

make sure you carriage through everything else till you get the UDATA/PDATA info. Don't abort! Also, do you have MWA in the CLS?

Well, that didnt work, here is what I get.

I type in
ITEM KEY 11 MWK (AT THIS POINT i GET SCH5003) MESSAGE AND THEN IT GOES BACK TO THE KEY, IT DOESN'T LET ME FINISH WITH THE MESSAGE NUMBER (4999)

You have to put MWA in your CLS. You can't add the message key until you've allowed MWA.

you can't have a mwk unless cls=mwa, and the if the number is a acd it must be mws=yes.. if it's a;ready you acd dn then it has to be a mess waiting center anyway. when the switch give you a cods (sch)(bug) look it up, most of the time thats much faster

If you look this error up the answer is there. OR if you read Coniglio's post above the answer is there. It begins with a M and ends with an A and you add it to the cls setting.

Okay, so how do I go about adding it. This is part of an acd.

You get to the part after echg and put cls mwa hit enter than key 11 mwk xxxx than enter through. But because this is an acd phone most people dont recommend making changes on acd phones because it can cause corruption in the switch. Most people would recommend outing the phone and rebuilding it from scratch.

Well, this probably wouldnt be a good idea, we have had problems with our switch and until we move to another building, we are basically trying to maintain it.

I also have where I need to add an extension to an phone. So a two extension phone. This is not apart of an ACD queue, would that would a different situation?

If its not an acd phone than doing an easy change (echg)and adding another extension should be fine.

I have another question, what if I copy a phone that has the MWK that I want to add, that is apart of the ACD queue. Would that do anything to the switch.
