Hi!
for the second time in last month I found a HDD whych
can't be accessed from OS because it has an UNACTIVATED
partition.

Why this partition is unactivated? I don't know.

I need to know whych is the safest way to re-active this partition.

In the past I used XFdisk, which is a nice freeware tool to do it.
Basically this program says that this partition is an SFS partition (Instead of a NTFS whych in fact it is).
Therefore I changed this file system and reactivate the partition with this software. I succeed with no data lost but I'm not sure I will be so lucky.

Is there any way to do it?

Thanks,
Dani.

PD: You can find Xfdisk at

Partition Magic will do it. Not free though. When that sorta thing happens it would be best to image the drive to another of the same size. Then "play" with the image not the original.

Thanks dbData,

What about MBRWork 1.07b? It's freeware tool and
I think it is also possible to do this with it.

Have you ever used it?

Thanks,
Dani.
