How to activate/deactivate the pen tool?

HI, I am using the pen tool (win xp, ID CS3).


I am using it to underline some line in my paragraphs and would like to activate the pen tool once, make 2 points to form a line, but then go to other part of the page, to form a NEW line, without connecting to the one I just made, so is there a way to push a key or something to temporarily "turn off" the pen tool so that a new line can be formed elswhere?

On Windows, ctrl click (mouse) on away from the line and then start drawing again

On Mac, press cmd click (mouse)


I don't think that is the best way to underline your text though, or words

You have several options, like a paragraph rule, or an underline.

Both are available from the paragraph and character panels respectively and offer many options for controlling the line.
