I'm new to portal, and I haven't been able to figure out how to query data in a remote database (not the infrastructure, but in same LAN) and create a chart with it.

I've managed to create a database link to the database: FIS which says is successful when I test.

Can anyone help me out right quick? I can't find any useful material on this.

nevermind, figured it out eventually.

This is what I did... don't know if it's right, but it works.

Create a database link under the public schema
Create a synonym for the table/view your querying
Create a DB Provider under the PORTAL_public schema
Create your component (report, chart or whatever... referencing your synonym --which doesn't pull up in the search list-- as the view/table)

ps- remember to put the schema in front of everything
