Hi

Having recently installed an ipchains based firewall I want to give my remote users access to our POP3 server which is on the inside of our firewall. The documentation I have read says that merely allowing connections to port 110 is bad as the passwords are exchanged in plain text.

Does anyone know how I can get around this. Is it possible to use the secure shell demon - and if so is there any available documentation?

N.B. The POP3 server is Redhat and the mail clients are running MS Outlook.

Thanks in advance

Gary

Have you tried setting up SSL access to the POP3 server? That's the only way I know of to get secure access to a mail server.

Steve Kiehl
Webmaster, Nanovox.com
