A friend of mine briefly told me about a problem he´s having.
Correct me if I´m missing something here or If I´ve understood this wrong.
He has a netgear RT314GE, a router/gateway, with built-in switch capabilities (4 ports?).
He has a adsl connection to the internet. The adsl-modem is connected to the router/switch.
The one connected to the switch accesses internet by giving the routers ip (assigned by the ISP´s dhcp) as default gateway.
The routers uses NAT to translates all local traffic to internet traffic, making all local users appear as the router on the internet?
He´s planning on setting up a linuxserver on his LAN.
How can he access this from the internet?
He wants to be able to telnet to it, as well as running different services on it. like a counter-strike server, ftp.
The ip´s of the LAN are assigned by the dhcp in the netgear router/switch. 192.168.0.1-254 I believe.
thanks in advance. /Sören
