How to access LAN machine from root?

I have finished netconf on Linux machine as root. Now my problem is hw do I explore other computers in my LAN the wway WinNT allows us to . Is there linux explorer available?

Hi,

That all depends on what those other machines are running. If you mean to browse smb/cifs shares on windows machines then the nearest you will get in linux is LISa - the LAN Information Service --> .

You would have to have samba (incl samba-client stuff) installed on the linux machine and have the KDE desktop ( , including the kde-network rpm for your distribution which includes lisa . To check if thats installed do :

rpm -q kde-network

To check on kde generally do :

rpm -qa | grep ^kde

If theres nothing there you'll have to install kde. If you have kde but not the kde-network you'll just need to install that rpm.
