We are brand new Avaya IP office installer/programmers. Just installed Avaya IP office 500 v.6 with embedded VM. The phones are working and the PRI is working. Buttons on the phones are programmed and folks are happy with the system. BUT, someone wants to be able to access their VM from home/cellphone. Each phone has it's own DID, there is no main number.
Called a tech and he said use the short code *99 Still doesn't work to access their VM remotely.
What did we forget? Please help.
Thanks so much.

A short code can be created that uses the Voicemail Collect feature but without a mailbox name specified in the Telephone Number field will trigger remote access. An example is shown below.
This short code could be utilized by users on the system, as the destination in an Incoming Call Route or as the destination for a auto attendant option.
Short Code Field Contains...
Code *99
Feature Voicemail Collect
Telephone Number ?
Line Group Id 0
Locale [Leave blank]
Force Account Code [Leave blank]

Incoming Call Route...
Available DID #
Destination *99

They can call there own DDI if they have a sourse code entered with P0123456789 in it

P0123456789 is the number of the cell phone used.

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

tlpeter, can you give us detailed instructions on how to set up this up, where and how?
Thanks so much

using the p source number will only stop them having to enter a pin code if they dial in from that number. they will still need to break into the voicemail either using a spare ddi or by dialing their own ddi.

Get well soon Aaron.

One more note:
Where remote access is setup for any mailbox there must be a mailbox access code is set for the user or hunt group. If a mailbox does not have an access code remote access is not available.

You can set an access code for your mailbox. This access code will be requested whenever you access the mailbox to
collect messages. When set the access code must be between 4 and 15 digits in length.

Setting and changing a mailbox access code can be done by your system administrator. You can also do it yourself
through the mailbox.

When changing your access code:
· Enter least four digits. If you enter less than four numbers you will be prompted to enter a longer code.
· Do not set an obvious code, for example:
· Do not match your extension number.
· Do not use a sequence of digits, for example 1234.
· Do not use the same repeated digit, for example 1111.

To change your access code
1.Log in to your mailbox.
· If your mailbox already has an access code set, you will be prompted to enter it. Enter your access code.
2.Press *04 to change your access code.
3.Enter your current access code and press #. If you have no current access code just press #.
4.Enter your new access code followed by #.
5.Re-enter your new access code followed by #.The access code will now be changed.
· The system will prompt you if the codes do not match or is not acceptable. It will also confirm the change of
access code if successful.

If they have an open DID number, you can also just point that DID number to destination Voicemail. Then, everyone just calls that DID number from the outside and will be prompted for their extension and password (which needs to be set-up for remote access).
