I have a crystal report file that uses an excel file (it is used in place of a table which cannot be created in the database right now). It is linked it to the database tables and I was able to pull the necessary information when I work from within Crystal Reports. My problem is, this crystal report file has to be run from within the EMR application. When I do that, it is showing a Sheet_1 not found error. How can I set the location of the excel file so that it can be accessible from within the EMR application?

You need to set up the Spreadsheet in a location accessible by the server on which EMR is running. For example if the spreadsheet is currently saved on the C:\ drive of your local machine, the server would just see it as C:\ and assume its own C:\ drive (if it has one).

It will also depend on how you are connecting to the spreadsheet. If you are using ODBC you will need to have the DSN set up on the server as well as your local machine. If you are using the Access/Excel [DAO] connection I think it is sufficient to ensure that the full path specified is available to the server (using the sae drive mappings etc as is used on your local machine).

You will almost certainly need to involve the IT guys to get this set up for you.

Hope this helps

Pete.

Thank you so much Pete. That's exactly the problem.

I am using a DAO connection to connect to the spreadsheet and an ODBC to the Oracle database.Since Crystal report was not able to locate the file in my local machine, our IT guy placed this file in the folder where the main database is located (so we can test it). But I am unable to tell Crystal Report to look for that file.(since I believe I don't have access to the server). How can I specify the path so this file is accessible from the EMR application.(or to tell the EMR application to look for the excel file in my machine - if that is possible - by changing the path from C:\ to something else).

Please offer your suggestions.

An update from the previous post. The IT person set up a folder in the server machine exactly like I had it in my machine and copied the file there (so the path will be the same). Still, when I run the report from within the EMR application, it is not even detecting sheet_1 in my machine.Could it be that the EMR application will not let Excel(other) files to be connected to the database?
