Hi guys,

We have two routers running HSRP and OSPF, which connect to our ISP's two routers by dumb switches. I can see from our routers that our routers and their router established OSPF neighbour relationships all right. one of our router is BDR, and one of our ISP's router is DR. However, I got to see the configuration in our ISP's two routers by chance, and that confused me.
They are not even running OSPF, instead they are running BGP! But how the hell our routers are forming neighbours with these two routers then?

Anybody working in ISP can anwser me this?

Thanks a lot!

It's not possible, they must be running OSPF. You may have just missed it.

I didn't miss nothing, and that is why I am so confused.

If their router is a Neighbor and its a DR is MUST be running OSPF.
You sure your not mistaking your Neighbor router ID?

maybe the dumb switches aren't really dumb and are running bgp/ospf processes?

As BuckWeet said, it is proberly the Switches that are running the process between yourself and the router as it has to assign an IP to your routers..

in most cases teh ISP will run ospf and they resitribute your ospf routes into BGP so you can pick them off at your other locations..
it is there.. if you saw configs on paper it just wasnt included.. if you looked in the router and it wasn't there... they there router would of had a 2nd bgp peer that it connects to to receive those routes....

You connect to your other router via OSPF. Your two routers connect to your ISP(s) with BGP most likely.
