How the rotation of Tape works in a GFS ?

Hello

i use a rotation scheme GFS on Arcserve2000 , on 7 days. Incremential monday to thursday, and a complete friday.

I format tapes and assign them to the spool. The first week it works great, but after 5 days the older tape doesn't automatiquely go to the disponible space ??

what is the procedure to implement a rotation scheme and assign tapes ??

In the media pool manager, right clink on the daily pool and select properties. You'll find two rules: Min # of Media in save set and Retention time (days). You'll need to change these to match your rotation.

These rules are checked when a backup completes and the tape is added to the save set. If both rules are passed, the oldest tape in the save set is moved to scratch.

Before tonight's backup, you'll have to manually move a tape to the scratch set. Select the oldest tape in the save set, right click on it and select move media to scratch set.

After your backup, if the rules are set properly, you'll see a tape become available in the scratch pool.
