How the heck did they do this ??? Please help

and watch the top portion (the flash part) and if someone could...explain to me how the hell they get the wording to show up like they did. There is like a halfly faded circle that runs horizontally and the words appear to follow it. The only thing I can think of is some masking technique. Can someone explain it to me how they did that?? thanks

I think you are right they have used a masking technique of some kind, I think its a variation/more advanced style of the typewriter effect, take a look at the following links (unless you already know how to create that effect)
