Help Please !

I have the following problem with the recycled of Tapes, I carried out a full backup the day 16 of a client (unix) that has the browse policy of 7 days and the retention policy of 7 days also.

Today 10 of April the state of the save-set continues in state browse.
The schedule associated with the client is of level full for every days. Wath is the problem ?

Hello,

7 days isn't 7 days.
The browse and retention policies work off of a "cycle" theory. A Networker cycle is the span form 1 full backup to another. Networker saves data to a point in time that will allow you a full cycle of recovery.

So if you do a Full on Sunday, an incremental M-Sat and a Full on Sunday.
You now have one cycle. One would think that 7 days means that legato would recycle the first Sunday full. Networker can't recycle the first Sunday's full because you need it to build to your Monday,Tuesday, etc.

Review your schedule and perform full backups closer together to achieve the results you want Probably something like 2+ a week will get you closer to your 7 day b&R that you are looking for.
Or use manual commands to recycle the tapes on demand.
