How switches handle packets. 2

If two computers(server & a client) are talking(lets say transfering a file from server to client), the client drops out(for whatever reason) in the middle of the conversation,&nbsp;&nbsp;does the switch do with the undelivered packets?&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><br>
 
Send back lost connection error message and then dumps the rest of the packets into the bit bucket.&nbsp;&nbsp;This is if the client is off line for some time if it just looses connection for a short time it will try reconnect back up depending on the application.&nbsp;&nbsp;hope this helps<br><br>Rob
