Hi,
I will apply MS03-031 hotfix to a SQL server. On the server the SQL system files are located in C: drive. The SQL data files are located in E: drive. When I apply hotfix to the SQL server, some system files and data files will be replaced. Will the hotfix be smart enough to know that the data files are in E dirve not in E dirve?

Thanks

Yes the patches read the registry and know where all the files are. The patches don't replace the data files. They start the SQL Service and run SQL Scripts against the database to modify the data files.
