-OR-

Starting with the RIGHT MOST CARRIER, power down, then the nest to the right, POWER DOWN, and then the LEFTMOST, POWER DOWN, and then POWER UP in the SAME ORDER, waiting about 10 Seconds between each carrier powering up.

Right, Center and then Left....

Merlin man you ARE the man when it comes to the legend

But now an confused, I always powered down left to right then powered up right to left. Have I've been doing it wrong? I always made sense to power down the processor cabinet first.

After a power failure, your electric company restores power to all the cabinets at the same time. Why isn't this good enough? Obviously, it is, most of the time.... If sequencing power between cabinets is such a good idea, Avaya should build in automatic support for it, or sell a sequencing power strip.

Well jls, here's the deal.

As the systems developed, and designs were changed, some power supplies were changed, it came to pass that some would power up slower than others.

Thus, when power was restored, if you had a slow one on the RIGHT and a FAST ONE on the left, then the right most carrier may not have been recognized.

Yes, that should NOT have been the result, but it was.

As far as whether you are powering down correctly or not, bottom line, powering down made no diff, but to help all parties concerned on the same page, we used to try to teach only one method. Again, in reality, the system cares not how it is powered down.

So, Merlinman, good reason for a sequencing power strip to automate the process. A quick google reveals one product available from TWAComm that provides up to 6 steps of sequencing for less than $400. Perhaps worth it in installations where power failure isn't protected by UPS, or where there is frequent need to re-cycle the power.

I have a problem with my ISDN PRI. My system is programmed to DMS-100, B8zs, Ext. Frame, and I programmed my B- Channels and my PRI rings busy and doesn't appear what am I missing.

I just want to assign all 23 to my system create about 11 fax extensions as DIDs and leave the rest as IN/OUT lines.

Can someone help?
