I just got hooked up with cable internet. I'm wondering if Windows Firewall is all I need or do I need more? I know the difference between Hardware/Software Firewalls and I have a router that I am going to hook up. I have a current Symantec Antivirus subscription, which I keep updated and running in the background.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thank you.

The router will give your NAT (network address translation) so you will be pretty protected by that hardware device.

XP firewall is not a good one because it only does incoming firewalling, it does not protect outgoing nasties.

I would recommend looking at the free version of Zone Alarm or Kerio Personal firewall.
