I have been writing apps using MySQL for a couple of years, however the biggest number of users using one of the databases (not concurrently) is around 200 (with arround 60 concurrent users).
I like MySQL because it runs well with a PHP/Apache setup and is easy to maintain. My next project is looking at around 2500 users spread over 4 countries, with anywhere around 500 users concurrently.
My feelings here is that my company would be better off investing the money and implementing a solution such as Oracle. I would however continue to use MySQL if had the confidence that it would cope with this amount of throughput.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks in advance.
