My root file system use a mirrored metadevice
d10,submirror is d11 ,c0t0d0s0 and d12 ,c0t1d0s0,
how can I just use single disk c0t0d0s0 as
root file system without re-install system,
I mean that I don't want MetaDevice again, just
use a disk slice ,

Thanks ,

Hi,
Make changes in the file /etc/vfstab i.e. mount the FS as
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 instead of /dev/md/dsk/d10 and then make changes in the file /etc/system as well i.e. hash out the rootdev entry which points to mirrored device. Then reboot the system.
I hope this is helpful to u.

Thanks very much,
but this doesn't work

Hi,
May I know what the problem is....
Were u able to find an alternate solution. If yes, then can u please post that here.....

To unmirror root /usr/opt/SUNWmd/sbin/metadetach /dev/md/dsk/d10 /dev/md/dsk/d12 to detach the second mirror. Then run:
/usr/opt/SUNWmd/sbin/metaroot /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0
This will change the /etc/vfstab file and also the /etc/system file after a reboot the system will come up without root being mirrored.

Thanks your answer,
after I tried "metaroot c0t0d0s0",
or " vi /etc/vfstab and /etc/system"
it reboot, but
Problem 1, /dev/md/dsk/d10 still is the
root file system ;
2, the root file sysetm is read-only,
I can't write or modify it,
3, CDE or Openwin can't start automatically

Thanks,

Boot from CD,
mount the root filesystem on /mnt
edit /etc/vfstab to show
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0 / ufs 1 no -

for your root partitian
then reboot
