How put text in columns

I wish to make a program like QuarkExpress (something like it), and now I have a problem - put text in rectangle with 2 or 3 or more columns.

1. How can I draw a rectangle?
2. How can I put text in the same rectange?
3. And, how can I make columns (2, 3 or more) in the same rectangle but, the text must flow from 1 to 2 to... columns?

QuarkExpress make it.
