how ping e0?

Pix 501, 6.2(2).

How do I allow ping resonses from e0 to get back to a host on the lan?

Meaning, a host on the lan wants to ping e0 just for testing...

I have a conduit: conduit permit icmp any any.

Do I need an ACL ??

I get no response when I ping e0_ip-address

You will never be able such task, by design the PIX will not allow you to ping an interface from a segment off a different interface. If you need to test connectivity you can ping the outside router instead.
